BELGIUM

 

Vitamins

As ruled by the Royal Decree 2.10.198:

  1. The addition of vitamin A and D is mandatory, in the amounts of:
  • Vit. A : 25 - 30 UI, 900 µg/100 gr
  •  Vit. D2D3 : 2,5 - 3 UI, 7,5 µg/100 gr

2. Addition of Vit. E is voluntary, but subject to procedures according to Royal Decree 03.03.1992 (foodstuffs to which nutrients are added).

 


 

FRANCE

 

Vitamins

Vitamin D in margarines is allowed at 5 µg per 100g product.

 


 

GERMANY

 

Vitamins

According to the Verordnung über vitaminisierte Lebensmittel vom 1.9.1942 (RGBl I S. 538 und vom 25.11.1994 (BGBl I S. 3526), the addition of the following vitamins are voluntary and optional:

  • A: (Vitamin A-acetat, Vitamin A-palmitat) in total maximum 10 milligramme/kg
  • D: (Ergocalciterol, Cholecalciferol, Cholecalciferol-Cholesterin) in total maximum 25 microgramme/kg
  • E: (alpha- and beta-Tocopherylacetat, alpha- and beta-Tocopherylsuccinat) authorized for all foodstuffs in general without limits

 


 

THE NETHERLANDS

 

Vitamins

As of 1.12.1999,  the addition of vitamins A and D became voluntary. Because of the importance of vitamins A & D contribution through fat spreads, an industry voluntary agreement was signed on 30 November 1999.
Manufacturers agree to continue the addition of vitamins A & D up to a level of minimum 75% of 8 µg per gram for vit. A, 0,075 µg per gram for vit. D.

 


 

TURKEY

 

Vitamins

100 grams of vegetable fat spreads directly sold to consumers must contain a minimum of 2000 IU vitamine A and 100 IU vitamine D.

 


 

UNITED KINGDOM

 

Vitamins

The Statutory Instrument 1999 No. 2457 on Spreadable Fats (Marketing Standards) (England) Regulations 1999 states that any margarine sold by retail shall contain in every 100 grams of such margarine:

  1. not less than 800 micrograms and not more than 1000 micrograms of vitamin A, and
  2. (b) not less than 7.05 micrograms and not more than 8.82 micrograms of vitamin D, and a proportionate amount in any part of 100 grams.
